A Perceptual Distortion Metric for Digital Color Images
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a comprehensive distortion metric for digital color images. It is based on a normalization model of the human visual system that incorporates color perception. The model is shown to accurately fit psychophysical contrast sensitivity data as well as intraand inter-channel contrast masking data from several different psychophysical experiments. The output of the metric is compared with subjective data for natural images.

A Perceptual Distortion Metric for Digital Color Video
In this paper I present a distortion metric for color video sequences. It is based on a contrast gain control model of the human visual system that incorporates spatial and temporal aspects of vision as well as color perception. The model achieves a close fit to contrast sensitivity and contrast masking data from several different psychophysical experiments for both luminance and color stimuli....
متن کاملColor image fidelity metrics evaluated using image distortion maps
Several color image delity metrics are evaluated by comparing the metric predictions to empirical measurements. Subjects examined image pairs consisting of an original and a reproduction. They marked locations on the reproduction that differed detectably from the original. We refer to the distribution of error marks by the subjects as image distortion maps. The empirically obtained image distor...
متن کاملRobust approach for color image quality assessment
This paper presents a visual color image quality metric assessment with full reference image. The metric is highly based on human visual system properties in order to get the best correspondence with human judgements. Contrary to some others objective criteria, it doesn’t use any a priori knowledge on the type of introduced degradations. So the main interest of the metric is on its ability to p...
متن کاملPerceptual quality assessment of color images using adaptive signal representation
Perceptual image distortion measures can play a fundamental role in evaluating and optimizing imaging systems and image processing algorithms. Many existing measures are formulated to represent “just noticeable differences” (JNDs), as measured in psychophysical experiments on human subjects. But some image distortions, such as those arising from small changes in the intensity of the ambient ill...
متن کاملQuality image metrics for synthetic images based on perceptual color differences
Due to the improvement of image rendering processes, and the increasing importance of quantitative comparisons among synthetic color images, it is essential to define perceptually based metrics which enable to objectively assess the visual quality of digital simulations. In response to this need, this paper proposes a new methodology for the determination of an objective image quality metric, a...
